Have you ever heard that decision Fatigue is real. Well that’s because it is. And today I’m going to be telling you how to avoid decision fatigue so that food decisions feel easier. Especially during high stress or vulnerable times where you see yourself consistently overeating. Now for you, this might be Friday night or just the weekends in general, maybe Sunday, brunch. Maybe it’s a time of day for you like 3:00 PM or eight 30. Or maybe it’s Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas parties. For our purposes, we’re going to assume that you’re making decisions. In two different ways, either in a stress state or a calm state.
So let me explain a little bit to you about your brain. There’s a part of your brain. That’s like a barking dog. And that barking dog is always looking out for danger, always looking out for danger. And when it senses danger, which is stress, it starts barking. Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark. And what’s the easiest way to calm a barking dog. Yeah, you got it. Throw it a bone, give us something to chew on. And that’s why eating during stressed out times. Is so easy and so hard to stop. When we’re making food decisions in a stressed out state. The easiest thing to do is to just eat. Number one, because we’ve always done it.
And number two, because it’s super effective. It helps us calm down in a very quick way. Now the other part of our brain is on the front part of our brain. This is the part of our brain. Where we think clearly we do our best thinking we problem solve or thinking logically we can really see long-term consequences.
This part of our brain. Remembers what our deepest desires are, what we really want, not what we just want in the moment, but what we really want. Well, it will bring us the most satisfaction. And I like to call this part of my brain, my wise owl. What happens to the owl when the dog is barking?
The wise owl flies away. And we don’t have access to that clear logical, calm thinking I just did a whole workshop on this, on how to access the wise part of your brain. In planning for these vulnerable or predictably stressed times.
So that you create a protocol on what you’ll do, what you’ll not do, how you’ll support yourself, how you’ll talk to yourself, where you calmly and prayerfully make these plans. You can clearly see how simple that would make these stressed out times. Now, these protocols are just one of the powerful tools that the weight loss with the holy spirit community will be using for eight weeks.
Celebrate the holidays without the sabotage challenge. And in this challenge, which starts November 6th, this coming Monday. We will not only be creating protocols, but giving support and celebrating the follow through of these protocols. You guys know how distracting the holidays can be. And we need that support. That support and encouragement and a place to come and celebrate when we follow through on the protocols. Every week we joined as a community.
